ABSTRACT GROUP
Aviation Terminal Moodboards
Freelance client, Abstract Group, based in Columbia, MD, contracted me to create moodboards for a confidential client that plans to begin construction on a private aircraft terminal. The interior vision was integral to Abstracts vision and entrusted me to provide inspirational imagery that would speak to the spirit of the space. Below are my three options presented to the client and excerpts to speak to my intentions.
Smokey Leather
Mood collage number one is inspired by baltimore’s luxurious hospitality scene. A more masculine and brooding representation of old wealth interiors in and around the city. The images show large living room scenes with industrial architecture, softened by greenery, leather, and brass. The natural light, integral to the design vision, allows the space to remain light, despite the warm and dark tones of the materials.
International Diplomat
The second mood collage option, the direction prefered by the client, is instilling the vision of the interior of international executive. The direction I chose to represent that was through Viennese art deco. The Adolf Loos and Otto Wagner interiors are bright airy, yet highly sophisticated in material and technique. Marble, glazing, and mirrored hallways allow the space to be both conducive for business, while retaining a sense of international intrigue through the clear european influence.
Eclectic Elegance
The third and final moodboard option, and my personal favorite, visualizes the idea of culture represented through eclectic accumulation. A worldly passenger, chartering the globe and amassing numerous culturally significant artifacts to fill the space, while also warming and calming the environment. The cuisine, mediterranean in influence, served on natural stoneware to match the warmth of the palette, accompanied by large indoor plants from numerous climates worldwide, and varying ceiling height to bring a sense of vastness, yet moments of reprise. The residential nature of the space, allows the travelers to unwind contrary to the accustomed airport experience.
